Business support for charities and social enterprises

Your cause is large and your team is small. We help charities, CICs and social enterprises widen their income, lighten reporting and set up systems that let staff and volunteers spend time on the mission.

Who this is for

You run a charity, a community interest company or a social enterprise, perhaps as the chief executive, the founder or the only full time employee. Trustees, volunteers and funders all rely on you. Fundraising, delivery and admin land in the same week, every single week.

Why good causes run out of hours

  • Grant cycles dictate the year

Applications, awards and reports follow a calendar that is not yours. The months between decisions are anxious, and planning more than a year ahead feels like a luxury.

  • Trading income nobody has time to build

Selling services or products could soften the reliance on grants. Pricing, marketing and a sales habit are skills the organisation never had spare hours to learn.

  • Volunteers and records out of step

Rotas, contact lists and impact figures live in different hands and files. When a volunteer leaves, part of the organisation's memory leaves too.

  • Trustees want assurance, quickly

Board packs need honest numbers and a plain view of risk, including data. Pulling them together by hand every quarter takes time you do not have.

Practical help that fits a charity budget

Scope &
Strategy

We map your income, what each service costs to deliver and where staff hours disappear. Then we agree a few changes that would help most, including any realistic route to earned income.

About Scope & Strategy

Systems &
Solutions

We build joined up records for supporters, funders, volunteers and outcomes, so one set of information produces the board pack, the funder return and the annual report without a week of copying.

About Systems & Solutions

Security &
Support

Beneficiary and donor information carries real responsibility. We set up clear access, safe storage and backups, document your data protection approach for trustees, and keep it current as the team changes.

Questions people ask

How can a charity reduce reliance on grant funding?

Look at what you already do that others would pay for, such as training, services or partnerships, and test it small before committing. Keep your charitable purpose and governing document in view. Take advice on trading rules. We can help you work out what could realistically earn.

What is the difference between a charity and a social enterprise?

A charity is a legal status with its own regulator and rules. Social enterprise describes a business that trades for a social purpose, and can take legal forms such as a CIC. Check the Charity Commission or Companies House guidance. We can help you plan whichever fits.

How do we keep supporter and beneficiary data safe?

Collect only what you need, keep it in one controlled system, limit access by role and keep backups. Volunteers who handle data should know the rules. UK GDPR applies to charities. We can review your setup with you. This is not legal advice.

How do I get started with NYAS?
